Welcome to Delgany Heritage Village
CONVENT ROAD PART 8 for Delgany Village Reboot
Thanks for those who attended the Open House for the Convent Road Active Travel Scheme this past Spring - your submissions (over 75!) were submitted largely in favour of the scheme. However, we need to do this dance again.
Wicklow County Council has confirmed to DCC that the Part 8 process for the Convent Road/Village Traffic proposal will be restarted following an administrative delay with the previous Chief Executive’s Report. The preliminary report which was filed at the end of May and widely publicised was not submitted in its final form by the required deadline.
DCC notes this development, and is asking to rally the public support from the initial submission process again for this second round. WCC will be emailing all previous submission participants to ask if they want their submission carried forward, but you can also submit your support separately again. It is also important to highlight that the vast majority of submissions in the previous consultation were positive and supported the proposed layout.
DCC remains committed to the cul‑de‑sac design, which offers clear community benefits — reducing through‑traffic, improving pedestrian safety, and helping to protect the character of Delgany village while also making the Village a pleasant place to do business with our unique and valued local businesses.
As the process begins again, we encourage residents to re‑engage with the consultation link below and to restate their support for a design that enhances safety and preserves the unique character of Delgany. Local businesses and residents have shown continued support for this Cul De Sac design. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your submission. Thank you for taking the time to reconfirm your previous submission. You can scroll to the bottom of the page when you click the link below if you would like to add a NEW or UPDATED submission via their email portal.
To understand the history of the proposal, this GG article nails it here: https://www.greystonesguide.ie/delgany-one-way-taking-the-highway-may26/
Details of the recommenced Part 8 procedure, including the relevant documentation and consultation dates, are available at - https://www.wicklow.ie/Living/Services/Online-Consultation-Hub/Convent-Road-Active-Travel-Scheme-Part-8-Recommenced
