Welcome to Delgany Heritage Village

DELGANY HERITAGE DAY - STREET CLOSED!

Delgany Community Council is proud to announce the detailed line up for the Heritage Village Day in Delgany scheduled for Saturday August 16th, 2025 in Delgany Village from 1pm-5pm.  Registration is open now at https://www.delgany.online or through eventbrite CLICK HERE.

For the first time in over 10 years the village will be closing a portion of Convent Road to create a true village atmosphere on this Village Festival Day.  Guests can safely attend events/stalls from the Wicklow Arms to the Horse and Hound as through traffic will be cut off beginning at 10am.  We invite and encourage local residents to attend by foot/bike/public transport as there will be no parking available in the village and business car parks will be reserved for active customers and heritage day events.  Registration to attend is free at https://www.delgany.online or click here!

The feature of the day will be Delgany's first Dog Parade where we will crown some of our favorite four legged friends on the day and march from end to end of the village.  Registration for your favorite four legged friend is available at https://www.delgany.online or click here. The 5 euro fee will benefit the Delgany Community Council and help us host activities like this (hopefully) for years to come!  Donations on the day to DCC will also be accepted.

Live music will be featured at both the Wicklow Arms and the Horse and Hound Delgany.  Artists include Robbie Doyle who will be playing in the beer garden of the H&H from 2-4pm reprising some of his best Summer Setlists, and Trad Music will be featured front of house at the Horse from 2:30pm.

On Street BBQ Featuring Farrelly's Burgers, Lamb Kabobs and Sausages will be available from 1pm as well as Paella and Pancakes at the Bear Paw Deli.  Face-Painting from 1-3pm and Spot Prizes and Samples will be featured at Delgany Pharmacy. Craft Stalls from local artisans and community information tables will also be featured on Convent Road.  This will be a great day out for all ages with the spirit of the community and our shared heritage on full display!

In partnership with Greystones Autism Friendly Towns, a Calm Corner will be arranged as well as priority system for accessible access to food and bathroom queues.  For more information please email accessiblegreystones@gmail.com to register and receive a lanyard to prioritize access to facilities for the day.

Current Issues and News from Delgany Village

  • Honeybrook Cottage Planning & Objections

Delgany Community Council will be objecting to the plans to demolish Honeybrook Cottage on behalf of the community. For those interested in submitting individual objections, all submissions have to be lodged by February 4th and they can be sent by email.

Delgany is a heritage village and has unique character as a result of its older buildings. As mentioned, the site in question is in an Architectural Conservation Area and deserves extra scrutiny as a result. As well as the loss of heritage we also have grace concerns regarding the impact on roads and traffic as well as the loss of habitat with felling of mature trees.

  • Convent Road Village Scheme - DCC and DVBA Pushing Safety and Timeline

Representation from the DCC and DVBA have been working together to prioritise a solution for Convent Road through the village, and will continue to work with the Greystones MD to resolve this issue short and long term. DCC’s own Paul Armstrong was featured in Greystones Guide earlier this month and gives a good history of the issue and how Delgany representative groups are working together with elected representation to move a solution forward.

  • Delgany Tidy Towns WINNERS!

Congratulations to Delgany Tidy Towns! In November, DTT was awarded the Water and Communities overall national award (€2,000 euro prize) and named second place with 313 points in category C! Thank you to all of our committee members and committed volunteers on a well earned result!
